Community Housing Development Organizations
Mississippi Home Corporation
provides technical assistance to Community Housing Development Organizations
(CHDOs). MHC received two contracts total over $450,000 from the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help train and construct
operational seed funds to enable CHDOs to maintain, rehabilitate, and
construct housing for low and moderate income families. MHC was one of
only 23 organizations nationwide and the only Housing Finance Authority
in the country awarded a contract.

Qualifications

Organization must be a non-profit (501c) organization developing decent
housing affordable to low income persons or working to revitalize deteriorating
neighborhoods.
- The
organization should have experience in providing a range of assistance
to a community
- The
non-profit should be recognized by the city of Jackson or the State
of Mississippi as eligible to receive CHDO services and propose housing
activities that are priorities of Jackson MS or the Federal Home Program
